Quest to Read Them All – Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

On my continuing Quest to Read Them All, I have just finished reading the 6th installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

This is not the first time I’ve read the Harry Potter series, but this is my first experience with the British versions of the books.  There are subtle differences in the language of the book, but the core is completely the same.  J.K. Rowling wrote such an engaging story.  This is one of my favorite volumes.  It is the beginning of the end, and the audience gets some of the history behind the characters.  We also learn more about the characters’ current relationships.  We learn about Lord Voldemort’s history, are introduced to Horcruxes, see Snape attain the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher’s position, spend some time with the Order of the Phoenix & the Weasley family.  The only thing I wanted more of in this book was a deeper look into the life of the Half Blood Prince.  I think this comes from having read the series before, because I am interested in learning more about Snape earlier in the series, so that I can appreciate his reactions and interactions with Harry on a deeper level.  I’m looking forward to reading the last book, but don’t want the series to end…

What do you think?
