It’s very rare that I actually drink anything harder than a small glass of Red Moscato wine, but when I do I’m a sucker for tequila! So this week when we decided that the snow and cold were too much, and we wanted to have a yummy Mexican Fiesta for dinner it was totally Margarita time! I was feeling a bit adventurous, so I headed over to Pinterest to search for a different kind of margarita and found a recipe for a Cranberry Margarita! Double bonus!!! Tequila and cranberry – 2 of my personal favorite flavors!
Do you know what was even better then two of my favorite flavors? We had all of the ingredients on hand! I gathered everything together:
- 1 cup cranberry juice
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- ½ cup tequila
- ¼ cup orange liqueur
- 3 tbsp. liquid sugar (we used Sugar in the Raw, but simple syrup works, too)
- Coarse sugar or salt (we didn’t bother with this)
- Lime wedges and/or fresh cranberries, for garnish (we used cranberries I didn’t have any lime left after juicing them for the drinks)
Then it was time to start mixing! The directions said to start by mixing the cranberry and lime juice, but I had to make the lime juice before I could do that…
Then we added the sugar, tequila and orange liquor.
Next it was time to set up the glasses – they each got a couple of cranberries and some ice cubes. Oh, and don’t forget to pour on the yummy cranberry-tequila combination!
The finished drink was a great compliment to our Crock Pot Chicken Tacos!
